The book Why is Blue Dog Blue will be read to the fourth grade class. After the reading the class will open up to a discussion of what has been read by the author Rodriquez. Questions that will be ask to the class are; If you where blue dog would you be blue? What color would you be? What would be your name? These questions will be basis of the poetry project. Each student will draw an image of any type of dog. (The teacher will provide images of dogs). Once the student has choosen a dog image he/she will draw that image and color it using oil pastels any color. Then the dog will be given a name. The students will make an acrostic poem using the letters of the dogs name. The poem will describe the dog color, type, and character. .
